Welcome to the Junc
Hey — you’ve been invited to JUNC1, a self-hosted personal cloud running out of Kurt’s home. This page walks you through getting set up and explains what’s available to you.
Alpha disclaimer: JUNC1 is a prototype under active development. Services may go down, change, or be reconfigured without notice. Any data you store here — files, photos, chat history — is not guaranteed to be preserved. Don’t use this as a replacement for your actual cloud storage, photo backup, or anything you’d be upset to lose. It’s a playground for now.
Step 1: Create your account
You should have an invite link that looks something like:
https://auth.juncyard.com/if/flow/default-source-enrollment/?itoken=...
Click it, pick a username and password, and you’re in. That one account is your key to everything — all services use the same login.
If your invite link has expired or you have trouble, message Kurt.
Step 2: Explore what’s here
| Service | URL | What it is |
|---|---|---|
| Element / Quorra | chat.juncyard.com | Private messaging + Quorra AI (full features) |
| Open-WebUI | quorra.juncyard.com | Plain LLM chat — no custom integrations |
| Jellyfin | watch.juncyard.com | Movies and TV streaming |
| Nextcloud | cloud.juncyard.com | Personal file storage and sync |
| Photos | photos.juncyard.com | Photo and video backup library |
| Gitea | git.juncyard.com | Code hosting — file bug reports here |
All of these use the account you just created — just look for a “Sign in with SSO” or “Sign in with Authentik” button and it’ll take you right in.
Quorra
Quorra is a locally-running AI assistant. She has no cloud dependency — all inference happens on hardware in the house. She knows the junc and the services running on it, and she keeps her own per-user memory.
How to reach her
Matrix DM (recommended): Open chat.juncyard.com, sign in with SSO, and search for @quorra to start a direct message. This is the interface wired to Quorra’s custom backend — all of the features below work here.
quorra.juncyard.com: This is Open-WebUI, a generic LLM chat interface. It connects directly to the language model and is fine for basic back-and-forth, but it has none of Quorra’s custom integrations — no memory, no finance logging, no media downloads. Use it if you want a plain ChatGPT-style experience.
What she can do
All features below require the Matrix DM interface at chat.juncyard.com.
General conversation — She’s a capable general-purpose AI. Ask her anything; she holds multi-turn conversations with full session history.
Memory — Quorra keeps per-user memory. You can ask her to remember facts or recall things from previous conversations. Her memory of you is yours alone — other users don’t share it, and you can ask her to show, change, or forget anything she’s stored.
Finance logging — Tell her about a transaction in plain language and she’ll log it to your budget, asking a clarifying question if anything is ambiguous.
Request media downloads — Ask Quorra to download a movie or TV show in plain language and she’ll queue it up:
“Download Inception” “Get season 2 of The Bear” “Download How to Train Your Dragon”
She’ll confirm what she found, ask you to pick if there are multiple matches, and tell you when it’s queued. Once it finishes downloading, it’ll appear in Jellyfin automatically.
Quorra is under active development — more integrations (calendar, files, photos, and more) are on the way. See the Quorra section for the full picture.
Open-WebUI
quorra.juncyard.com — a clean, ChatGPT-style interface for talking directly to the language model.
Logging in
Click “Continue with authentik” on the Open-WebUI login page.
What it is
Open-WebUI connects directly to the language model backend without going through Quorra’s custom API. That means you get a polished chat experience — conversation history, model switching, file uploads — but none of Quorra’s integrations: no memory, no finance logging, no media download requests.
Use it when you want a straightforward LLM chat and don’t need the junc-specific features. Use the Matrix DM at chat.juncyard.com when you do.
Jellyfin
watch.juncyard.com — your streaming server for movies and TV.
Logging in
On the Jellyfin login page, click “Sign in with Authentik” (the button injected below the username/password form). This takes you through SSO and drops you into the library.
Using external apps
Apps like Infuse, Emby Theater, or the Jellyfin mobile app can’t use SSO — they need a username and password directly. To set one up:
- Log in via the web at watch.juncyard.com
- Go to your User Settings → Password
- Set a local password
- Use that username and password in the external app
Quorra integration
Quorra can take download requests in natural language and queue them through the media management backend. Once a download finishes, the content appears in Jellyfin automatically. Direct library search and playback control from Quorra are on the roadmap.
Nextcloud
cloud.juncyard.com — personal cloud storage. Think Google Drive or Dropbox, running on hardware here.
Logging in
Click “Log in with SSO” on the Nextcloud login page.
Desktop / mobile sync
Nextcloud has official apps for desktop (Mac, Windows, Linux) and mobile (iOS,
Android). Install the app, point it at https://cloud.juncyard.com, and
authenticate with SSO to sync files automatically.
Quorra integration
Quorra integration with Nextcloud (file access, calendar, contacts) is planned but not yet built.
Element / Matrix chat
chat.juncyard.com — a private, self-hosted messaging platform.
Logging in
Click “Sign in with SSO” on the Element login page.
What it is
Matrix is an open messaging protocol — like a private, self-hosted Slack or Discord. You get direct messages and the ability to join rooms. The client running here is Element Web.
Mobile app
If you want Element on your phone, download Element (classic) — not Element X. Element X does not support SSO login with Authentik.
- iOS: search “Element” in the App Store — the classic app has the simple blue icon
- Android: same — look for Element, not Element X
Point the app at https://matrix.juncyard.com as the homeserver when prompted.
Quorra on Matrix
Quorra runs as a bot on the Matrix server. You can DM her directly from Element — just search for @quorra in the People search. This is the recommended way to use Quorra’s full feature set: she has full conversation history and per-user memory for your sessions.
Photos
photos.juncyard.com — photo and video library powered by Immich.
Logging in
Click “Sign in with SSO”.
What it is
Immich is a self-hosted alternative to Google Photos. It supports mobile backup via the Immich app (iOS/Android), automatic organization by date, facial recognition, and album sharing.
Quorra integration
No Quorra integration for photos yet.
Gitea — bug reports & issues
git.juncyard.com — self-hosted Git and project management, where the junc’s code lives.
Logging in
Click “Sign in with authentik” on the Gitea login page.
Filing a bug
If something’s broken or behaving unexpectedly, file an issue:
- Go to git.juncyard.com and log in
- Find the relevant repository (e.g.
kurt/JUNC1DockerComposefor infrastructure issues, or aquorra-*repo for Quorra bugs) - Click Issues → New Issue
- Describe what you expected, what actually happened, and any steps to reproduce
When in doubt, file it under whichever repo seems closest — Kurt can move it if needed.
Questions?
Message Kurt, or DM Quorra — she can usually answer questions about what’s available on the junc.
