Junc
Your personal cloud. Your personal internet. Living in your home.
A piece of junc is a household appliance. You buy it, you plug it in, and it becomes the network and the cloud for everyone who lives there — files, photos, media, smart home, messaging, finances, and a locally-running AI assistant (Quorra) that knows all of it. On hardware you own, under no one else’s terms.
No subscriptions. No cloud. No one else’s servers.
Junc is the hardware and infrastructure side of the project. The AI assistant that ties it all together — and where most of the work is happening — is Quorra.
What you get
When a piece of junc arrives in your home, it replaces a stack of subscriptions with services you own outright:
| What’s on your junc | What it replaces |
|---|---|
| File storage and sync | Dropbox, iCloud, Google Drive |
| Photo backup | Google Photos, iCloud Photos |
| Streaming server | Netflix, Hulu, Disney+ |
| Smart home control | Amazon Echo, Google Home, SmartThings |
| Private messaging | iMessage, WhatsApp, Slack |
| Version control | GitHub |
| Quorra | ChatGPT, Google Gemini, Siri |
These aren’t alternatives you access through someone else’s app. They’re your copies, running on your hardware, in your home.
Your internet, inside your home
Most people think of the cloud as something that lives outside their house. Junc turns that inside out.
Junc replaces your router. From the moment it’s connected, it’s your home’s network — and everything running on it belongs to you. If your internet goes out, your files, photos, media, smart home, and Quorra all keep working. Your data never left. When you leave the house, a secure connection follows you — your personal cloud is accessible from anywhere.
Junc includes built-in power redundancy. Short outages don’t bring it down.
One piece of junc. The whole household.
Every member of your household gets their own account, their own storage, and their own private context with Quorra. Your data stays yours. Your AI’s memory of you is yours alone. The junc serves the whole household — one appliance, everyone covered.
Quorra
Every piece of junc comes with Quorra — a locally-running AI assistant with native access to everything on the machine.
She knows your files because they live on the same box. She knows your calendar, your notes, your media library, and your finances — not because you uploaded your data to some company’s server, but because she runs where your data lives.
This is what AI looks like when it actually knows your life. The Quorra section covers her in full.
The Grid
Your junc makes you independent. The Grid connects everyone’s junc together — a network of personally-owned compute nodes, each running its own services and its own Quorra, each able to communicate with others directly.
This is node one. The architecture is built for The Grid from day one.
This junc — JUNC1
The first piece of junc is the prototype where the concept is being built and validated. It’s a compact dual-GPU home server; see Hardware for the full specification, Vision for the project’s positioning, and Services for the stack running on it. New here? Start with Onboarding.
